[Wallace Wood, Executive Director of the Upper Savannah Land Trust from early 2010 until the end of 2018, was working right through the holidays last month on conservation easements! We’d like to share his New Years message to USLT friends and supporters… ]
Our last easement was closed Friday, December 28, giving us a total of six easements with 2,460 acres for the year and a grand total of 49,989 conserved acres, just 11 shy of 50,000. Hopefully that milestone will be celebrated in 2019.
Monday, December 31, 2018, was my last day as executive director. I can’t help but reminisce about how far USLT has come since its beginning in 2000. We have accomplished much for conservation.
Much of our success is due to many of you donating conservation easements, serving on the board and on committees and being faithful annual financial contributors. Our organization has grown tremendously, and with that comes added responsibility. It can’t be done without you.
It has been such a pleasure working with and getting to know many of you. Hopefully our paths will cross again.
Please welcome Wade Harrison as our new executive director. Wade brings a lot of experience from The Nature Conservancy in Georgia, and I trust that he will lead USLT to new heights.
May all of you have a healthy and prosperous new year.
Wallace
