2020 Annual Meeting
UPPER SAVANNAH LAND TRUST
Thursday, March 12, 2020 at 5:30pm
Arts Center at the Federal Building, 120 Main Street, Greenwood SC
USLT: SERVING THE WESTERN PIEDMONT OF SOUTH CAROLINA
Guest Speaker – Raleigh West
Director of the South Carolina Conservation Bank
A native of the South Carolina Lowcountry, Raleigh West has spent much of his career conserving land in that region, but with degrees from Wofford College and the University of South Carolina School of Law, he is no stranger to the Piedmont, and his education (which also includes an MBA from The Citadel) has prepared him well for his current statewide role in which he works closely with private landowners, state officials, and of course land trusts to make both conservation easements and other approaches to land conservation a bigger part of our South Carolina’s future. Raleigh’s past work has included a stint at the Trust for Public Land, a few years of private legal practice, and six years at the helm of the Lord Berkeley Land Trust in Moncks Corner.
Raleigh was selected to head the SC Conservation Bank in May 2019. He will share with us his perspectives on the importance of land conservation to South Carolina’s natural resources, recreational opportunities, business climate, quality of life, and sense of place.
Meeting is no charge for USLT members. Cost to others is $20. Dress is casual.
We will have a raffle drawings for a Savage Stevens 555 20-Gauge Shotgun from Hunters Headquarters.
